Lost My Way in U
Street
Walking around alone in a quite strange
city was a new experience to me. After the lunch at the Ben’s Chili Bowl which
was the most famous restaurant on U Street, we had two hours to explore and
observe the building and residences here. At this time, I decided to hang out
alone for have more freedom.
I walked around the old streets and
enjoyed the painting on the wall. There were lots of interesting paintings in
this place, they were vivid and colorful. While walking and enjoying these
artworks, I lost my way. The first thing I did after lost was to but a
Starbucks chilled coffee in CVS. There were less people in CVS, and it seemed
people who are not honest can take goods away without paying. There was no
cashier in CVS, customers have to scan the barcode on the reader. That means
they can totally take away the goods they want without pay or only pay some of
goods. That is the express of the basic truest from society and each people.
There is o doubt that the shop would a large amount of money if people not have
consciousness. I never used barcode reader by myself before, so I asked the
help from the people who was shopping in CVS, and she is really friendly and
help me to pay my money.
After bought the cold coffee, I sat close
to a sculpture which about the American soldier for a while and observe the people
who were walking pass me. Some of them smiled to me and said hello, it was
interesting to me due to parents do not let their child to talk with strangers.
However, in this country you can feel free to chat with people you don’t know
and ask for help. I lost my way in U Street and went back to Ben’s Chili Bowl
at 2 p.m. with the help with those friendly strangers.
