Sights and Sounds of Georgetown
Morning. The sights and sounds of morning. The birds chirping and calling one another in the trees, some brown and others yellow. The dark green moss hanging off the old bark of the trees in the park. The grass and weeds growing around the maroon bricks on the old sidewalk, as if nature was fighting to reclaim what was once theirs. A little further, as the day slowly moves by, the golden rays of the sun pierce through the cracks in the trees, creating a mix of sunlight and the green of the leaves. The sweet fragrance of desserts and breakfast specials being put on display in the bakeries scattered all around the quiet and lonely town. The spectrum of morning then moves to a more broader vision. Things that anyone could recognize. Businessmen swiftly walking down the street. Coffee, from the coffee shop down the street, in one hand, and their cell phone in the other, talking to their bosses about the current projects and business partnerships. Their blue and white suits glistening in the early morning, their shoes clicking as they connect with the old bricks, and their suitcases giving off a leather hew in response to the morning light. College students on summer vacation, constantly taking amongst their claustrophobic groups, yelling and laughing about the disappointments and pleasures they've encountered. Carrying their ice coolers and skateboards, they parade down the street in a distracting and uncivilized way. Cars carrying workers, families, friends, and strangers slowly move down the street as the small town becomes more and more crowded as the day progresses. Engines rumbling, side mirrors reflecting the sunlight, tires screeching as the lights turn green. All these sounds and sights occur at once, and it's hard to keep their names straight.
